My wife and I are pleased that we took up Nordic Walking. The benefits of relatively gentle exercise, in the outdoors, rather that being in a gym, became immediately apparent to us both; a good 'leg stretch' is so much easier with the Nordic walking poles and the technique is extremely simple and easy to pick up. Additionally, the social element is most enjoyable, although of course there is no requirement to join in any discussions if you don't feel like it! All in all, Nordic Walking represents a safe, gentle, 'non-impact' but good work out way to exercise in the company of other like-minded people.

I'm so glad Nordic Walking was recommended to me by my health practitioner. I love the escape to the outdoors after having been office bound all week and the sense of wellbeing that comes with it. There is no worry about the aches & pains associated with running etc and I feel like my whole body is being strengthened equally. I joined my local Nordic walking group in April last year .Every Friday I meet up with these people who have now become my friends and we walk up the hills and around beautiful Belper , I always have a laugh with them and enjoy the walk. It has improved my fitness and well being. Graham Beech ,our group leader & Instructor, organises everything and ensures our safety ,and "pushes" us up those hills in a supportive encouraging way .I would really recommend Nordic Walking with this group . Having completed the London Moonwalk I was looking for a new challenge, and thought that Nordic Walking would fit the bill. I checked the Nordic Walking UK website and found a local instructor. I emailed Graham for more details and he got back to me super quick, setting up a taster session just for myself and a few friends. Graham is a fantastic instructor, very patient with a great sense of humour and is eager that you get the most out of your sessions. I walk at Wollaton Hall mostly and he always changes the route to ensure it stays fresh. We have lots of laughs as we walk and get fit and healthy at the same time - a lovely way to spend an hour.
